Y5 RSE Parent Meeting

During the second half of the Summer Term, our Year 5 pupils will start receiving weekly lessons around Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) as part of the Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education.

RSE forms a mandatory section of the National Curriculum and is integral in providing your child with a well-rounded understanding of the world they live in, relationships they build, and their personal health. The curriculum is carefully designed to be age-appropriate, ensuring that it provides the right information at the right time.

The RSE program covers a range of topics, including understanding bodily changes, the importance of personal privacy, the nature of relationships, and fostering respect for others. The sessions will also cover such topics as puberty, sex and conception.

At the core of these lessons is the commitment to promoting the mental and physical wellbeing of your child, whilst equipping them with the knowledge to make informed decisions as they grow.

The lessons will be delivered in a sensitive and inclusive manner, ensuring all children feel comfortable and supported. We will respect the different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs of our pupils while maintaining the universal principles of respect, understanding, and empathy.

On Tuesday 6th June at 3:30pm. we held a parent forum where we provided an overview of what will be taught, discuss the methods of instruction, and answer any questions you might have.
